On Jan. 25, 2000 seventeen players from the Central Florida
Fire Fighters Hockey Club traveled to Windsor, Canada to play in the
Public Safety Hockey Tournament. This tournament is held annually by the
Windsor Fire Dept. This year 25 teams in 5 divisions competed for top
honors. The CFFFH team competed against 4 other teams in the "E"
division. The opponents were: the Trenton NJ FD.; the Windsor, Canada FD.;
the London, Canada FD.; & the Central Fl. Law Enforcement team. The
Games were hard fought and in the end our team emerged undefeated.
The first game was against the Trenton FD. & ended in a 0-0 tie. The
second game against the London FD. produced a 4-0 win. The third game
pitted the CFFFH team the host team from the Windsor FD. Our team won
5-2. The final game was versus our longtime rivals, the Central Fl. Law
Enforcement team. At the end of regulation time the final score was 2-2.
When the dust had settled & the points were tallied up, the CFFFH team
came out on top, taking 1st place in the division. After a long week of
hockey & Canadian hospitality the team returned home on Jan. 30,
2000. Although the team was victorious in the tournament, there was
no clear winner in the game versus the Central Fl. Law Enforcement team.
Come to the Orlando Arena on Feb. 12, 2000 to see the epic struggle
between these two proud teams!
